The community of Kidron, OH, is located in the Amish country of Sugar Creek Township. Kidron is part of Wayne County, about 15 miles southeast of Wooster in ZIP code 44606. North Fork Sugar Creek flows through the center of town.
Kidron was first settled in 1819 by Swiss Mennonites who named their new home Sonnenberg, before it later took its current biblical name. A retail store called Kidron Town and Country has been in business since 1929, while the community is also known for its diverse tool shops. Lehman’s Hardware serves a large Amish clientele, selling many non-electric appliances and Amish-made goods. The Kidron Sonnenberg Heritage Center operates a public museum, including displays of local historic items and a database of genealogical information for those of Swiss heritage and Amish or Mennonite background.
